Elks 2188 Annual Veterans Day Dinner
Sunday November 1, 2015
Our Annual Veterans Day Dinner will be held Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 4:00 p.m., in the Lodge Ballroom. We are honored this year to have as our Guest Speaker Rear Admiral Donna L. Crisp (Retired). Donna is a #2188 member and an active participant in the Veterans Committee. She began her military career in 1974 as an Ensign in Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. She enjoyed an illustrious career in the Navy and retired after 35 years of military service. Donna was a Master Training Specialist and Secretary of Defense Reengineering Excellence award recipient.
Her personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Legion of Merit with three gold stars, the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and various other unit and service medals. Donna will share some of her experiences as the Commander of the Joint Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Accounting Command. Veterans from the VA Hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia, and the Wounded Warriors from Fort Belvoir will be attending as our honored guests. We are also honored to have the Kings Park Band at this dinner to entertain everyone with patriotic music – this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the band. A complimentary dinner will be provided to everyone in attendance. Please note that no alcoholic beverages will be served at this event out of respect for our special guests. Lodge members are encouraged to attend this dinner, and should be seated by 3:45 p.m. Please join us to pay tribute to America’s veterans on November 1st.
