This is what the Elks are all about—tradition, family and belief in very large rabbits!!!! Thanks to Art Wyman for another great photo taken this past Easter Sunday (8 April) of our very happy bunny and some thrilled children who look like some at least could be great-grands. Tradition is what makes the Elks a special organization. In our Lodge especially, we believe in the ritual and the importance of the chairs (knight positions). Regardless of how the Grand Lodge goes in terms of ritual, Arlington-Fairfax will continue to welcome its new members as Elks have been welcomed for over a century. No matter how we perform it (sometimes good, sometimes not so) the important thing is that we do! A couple of years ago I sat through the entire 11:00 Toast Competition at convention and was astounded by the number of Exalted Rulers who could not perform this cherished piece of Elks literature. Anyone who has ever been to a dinner dance at our Lodge, knows how important and moving this piece is. It, and the ritual will always be part of our Lodge, 2188.
Fraternally,
