The ER's Corner
It is a great honor to recognize 3 of our members and say a special Thank You for their dedication and hard work, as they each step down from an activity they have supported over the years. Jessica Hensley as Webmaster, Paul Newcombe as Travel Coordinator and Rose Thiebaut for our email blasts.
Jess has tirelessly served as our Webmaster for several years, providing a much-needed service and volunteering for that position when no one else did. She has now turned over that responsibility to Roy Seabolt. (Roy is redesigning our Lodge website and will provide updates as the new site becomes ready for production.)
Paul has sadly had to step down as our Lodge Travel Coordinator. As I know everyone will agree, Paul has provided us with many hours of fun and enjoyment with the travel opportunities he introduced, and we will all miss his organized trips. Unfortunately, that also means we are looking for a new Travel Coordinator to try and fill Paul’s very “big” shoes. (Please contact Patti Graves at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested in serving as Travel Coordinator.)
Rose Thiebaut’s email blasts have been a daily or weekly notification that we have looked forward to reading; keeping us informed of Lodge activities, food specials and other fun information. Deborah Wilkes, who has been providing Special Entertainment blasts for some time, will now handle all email blast notifications.
Thank you Jessica, Paul and Rose!
The hard work and dedication of many other members is evident throughout our Lodge. From the Backpack Lunch program to the Dictionary program to the Pig Roast festivities; our Lodge members continue to make a difference in our community and within our Lodge. If you are a new member or someone who has wanted to become more active, we have so many ways that you can assist and also make a difference. We continuously serve our Youth, our Veterans, our Community and our fellow Members. Please email me or our Lodge Secretary if you have questions about available activities, committees or ways you can become more involved. We can help you identify areas of volunteerism that meet your needs and will be a perfect fit for you. It is true – when we volunteer, we receive so much more in return than what we give! Get involved and be Elk Strong!!
November brings many fun events and opportunities for our members to assist and make a difference. Karen Bender and Fredi Hensley continue their support of the Backpack Lunch program (see email blasts and Horn notices on how you can assist). Other November major programs and projects include the Veterans Program on November 9 to honor our Veterans who have sacrificed so much for us. Our annual Food and Coat Drive scheduled for November 25 and lead by Lisa Stevens continues to provide for 40+ families in need. There is another Tasting (Tini Tasting) planned for Saturday, November 15 in continued support of our Building Improvement Fund. The Guest Bartender Night on Wednesday, November 19 featuring Vernon Gardener and Deborah Wilkes will provide another evening of fun and fellowship. Also, don’t forget to check out the email blasts regarding the many scheduled activities in the Lodge for the football and fall season.
The Auxiliary continues to do so much to assist our Lodge and to support local charitable initiatives. They are able to do this through their sale of the White House ornament and the Giant food/gift cards. Your support in purchasing these items will help the Auxiliary meet their goals and continue their Lodge support and community service.
It is hard to believe, but Daylight Savings Time is also coming to an end. Don’t forget to Fall Back (set your clocks back) on Saturday, November 1 before you retire for the evening. That means you will get an extra hour of sleep – always a good thing.
And as November comes to a close, let us give Thanks for all we have. We are blessed as Americans for the many freedoms that our veterans have fought so bravely to ensure we have. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Patti Graves, Exalted Ruler
